IATI will organise its third Virtual Community Exchange (VCE3) on Tuesday 28 June (13:00- 16:30 UTC)! Our online event will offer informal and interactive sessions led by members of the IATI Community. Watch the VCE3 "sneak preview" and register below.

News: Activity level validation via the IATI Validator

The IATI Technical Team released the activity level validation via the IATI Validator! Now the IATI Validator individually assesses each activity level contained within activity files and only excludes activities with critical errors. Find out more about this new feature by clicking here

News: Updates to Datastore Search

The IATI Technical Team has implemented new features available to data users on Datastore Search. Among these you can now find narratives in the language that matches your search term, have the validity of your JSON filters checked by Datastore Search before making the import, the validation on advanced searches is increased, small bugs have been fixed, and the size of files have been streamlined. Reminder: Removing Datastore API Redirects on 11 July

The IATI Technical Team posted a kind reminder to the IATI Community noticing that redirects for API calls to https://iatidatastore.iatistandard.org to IATI's Datastore API version 3 will be removed on 11 July. After this date, users will need to access the Datastore API version 3 via the IATI API Gateway The IATI Technical Team has produced a series of user guides and documentation to help you use the iATI Datastore version 2 API. News: IATI holds two data use workshops in Kigali!

From 17-20 May, IATI hosted two workshops to advance the use of IATI data amongst partner countries. Two workshops were held in collaboration with the government of Rwanda, an incoming IATI Governing Board member. Representatives explored how this data could improve governments' visibility of external development and humanitarian resources along with challenges still faced in using IATI data and possible solutions to these challenges. On 4 May the IATI Secretariat hosted its first IATI Info Session. These quarterly Info Sessions offer an informal and informative space to learn more about the basics of IATI. As part of the #OpenGovWeek which took place from 16-20 May 2022, Youth Open Data in partnership with Beog NEERE launched a new application; #Yeeli. This application is a digital solution for promoting good governance, transparency and citizen participation. Find out more by clicking here.

Discussion: Tagging IATI activity data by goods, supplies, and services

Check out the request from a community member for activities to be tagged by goods, supplies, or services in IATI datasets. Mark Brough responded with information about existing economic classification of IATI data on activities by looking at the "capital-spend" field. Click here to learn more.


IATI Connect Stories

Check out the next edition of IATI Connect Stories, our monthly video series showcasing the work of an IATI community member. This month, we interviewed Charles Bazie, President & Founder of Youth Open Data. Charles talked about the importance of transparency and shared their recently launched Yeeli-app, which is a monitoring application on health and municipal services in public institutions in Burkina Faso. Want to learn more? Join the VCE3 (28 June) as Charles will be a co-host at the session: "IATI Tools on Display". The vlog in French and Spanish will be available shortly.

  • This year's DataFest Africa is happening in different cities across Africa from June 10th to July 27th. This event brings together data enthusiasts and data experts to share knowledge on data usage. Find out more about this event here.
  • The High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development will be held from Tuesday, 5 July, to Thursday, 7 July, and from Monday, 11 July, to Friday, 15 July, with the final day being Monday, 18 July 2022. The HLPF will reflect on how recovery policies can reverse the negative impacts of the pandemic on the SDGs. Click here to learn more!
