Session Description

More than ever, access to reliable, accurate and high quality data is a priority for advancing health, human rights and gender equality around the world. This session explored how CanWaCH’s innovative, open-access platform is being used to showcase Canada’s contributions to global health and gender equality programming, building on the work of IATI. Leveraging evidence generated directly from the sector, this database connects users with unique and timely information as well as resources that are relevant to their work. The session discussed the innovative ways in which data is collected, visualised and used to demonstrate impact and increase transparency. It explored challenges around data sharing in the global health sector, and featured examples of how existing data has been used to identify gaps, advocate for continued and expanded investment, build successful partnerships and improve coordination. Finally, it engaged participants in a critical dialogue on how best to measure and report on impact in this context.
