The IATI Registry will be undergoing scheduled maintenance on Tuesday 12 January 2021 and will be unavailable from 10:00-12:00 (GMT). During this time, the Registry’s website will not be browsable and the API will be offline.
This will mean that IATI publishers will not be able to register new datasets or view/edit dataset metadata. However, publishers will still be able to amend the IATI data they’ve already published, and all existing data will remain available during this time (as the Registry simply stores URL links to publishers’ data).
The purpose of this behind-the-scenes work is to bring us in line with the upgraded 2.9.1 version of the underlying software (CKAN). This upgrade will not result in any changes to the way that users currently interact with the IATI Registry and, once complete, all data will be preserved. The IATI Technical Team will be working closely with our suppliers to ensure that this upgrade goes smoothly.

Datastore: Phase 5 work
The Datastore is being updated this week to release the next round of enhancements. This update (reparsing) started on Saturday and is expected to run until 3rd Feb. During this time, you can use the Datastore as normal, however publishers’ data will not be updated. This means that you will be viewing data that was last updated on Friday 22nd Jan.
The new Query Builder enhancements include:
- Enhanced simultaneous filtering at activity, transaction and budget level. For example, users will be able to filter activities that are marked as being ‘humanitarian’ at either activity or transaction level, or both.
- Inclusion of default values. The transaction and budget downloads will now include each activity’s default values e.g., currency, aid type and flow type.
- These enhancements will be available through both the Datastore’s Query Builder and the Solr API.
For further details about this work, please see: https://github.com/zimmerman-team/iati.cloud/issues/2477
We will let you know when this process is complete and the Datastore has updated.
The deadline for submitting your proposal is 19 February, after which the Community Event Working Group, mandated by the IATI Governing Board, will examine all submissions and reach out to applicants by the end of February.
If you aren’t interested in organising a session, but have specific ideas on sessions you would like to see during the event, please e-mail (IATI Secretariat member) Anna Whitson at anna.whitson@undp.org.
We are pleased to announce that the Datastore has a new feature that allows users to simultaneously query data at activity and transaction level. This feature is available through the Query Builder and Solr. However this feature will not be available through the Datastore Django API as it is currently reducing the overall performance of the Datastore. Our supplier will look into fixing this problem so that this feature can be made available through the API in the future.
We are also pleased to share that the Datastore is refreshing and users can now see updated publisher data as usual.
IATI’s Data Use Working Group continues to hold bi-weekly meetings. During the group’s next meeting (2 March from 10-11am EST), Open Data Watch will present the findings of a project commissioned by the DUWG - conducting analysis around where gaps or challenges exist within the community that could be limiting data use. Anyone interested to attend the presentation is welcome! Please register here (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfok5eYqEEd50OyX1Bb4usLFDbMULg…) to receive a Zoom link to join the call. The report is shared below for your information.
The Data Use Working Group is open to anyone from the IATI community and if you are interested in participating on a regular basis, please contact Secretariat member, Anna Whitson (anna.whitson@undp.org).
