The IATI Technical Team has released v1.4.0 of Datastore Search, incorporating the following enhancements since v1.3.0 released in mid May:

1. Excel-optimised CSV downloads: Starting the v1.4.0 of the Datastore Search, users will have the option to download all datasets in a new Excel-optimised CSV format by clicking the “EXCEL” download button. This format ensures that Microsoft Excel correctly interprets file encoding and correctly displays accented characters by adding a UTF8 BOM. The format also fixes a bug some users of Microsoft Excel could experience while opening the previous CSV format where rows were incorrectly wrapping in the middle of long cells. This is accomplished by truncating individual cells longer than 32,700 characters, so if your software can parse long cells, we recommend you continue using the original CSV download format.

2. Interim boolean grouping feature: While we work to improve the user interface of the advanced query builder, an interim feature has been added to allow users to add parentheses into their queries. Prior to this feature, the Datastore Search’s interpretation of mixed booleans was ambiguous (e.g. X and Y or Z). Now users have the option to select “Boolean Grouping” from the field dropdown menu and add opening or closing parentheses to resolve that ambiguity.

Full details of the changes can be seen in the GitHub release notes for Datastore Search and Datastore Services. Many thanks to those who have used IATI Datastore Search and provided feedback and suggestions for improvements and new features. We continue to welcome all user feedback - do post comments below or email support@iatistandard.org .

Best wishes,

IATI Technical Team
