Hi everyone! Detail question for you. I have noticed that the participants in our publishing course sometimes put spaces in the IDs of their activities. Is this ever a problem for data users out there?

Hi everyone! The Netherlands MFA has a newsletter on IATI and every now and then, we interview someone with a nice data use case. This time I thought I'd share it with you here, because this one is particularly interesting, I think. The interviewee is Johan Meijer, and in the most simplified way you could say he tries to encourage those working in development, to find out what else is going on in the areas they work. He worked with Rolf Kleef I believe in getting the right data from IATI.

Hi there,
We need your help! Philantropia is currently supporting IATI in designing an online course that will help train individuals from civil society in partner countries on how to effectively use and understand IATI development data. In this initial stage, Philantropia is tasked with designing the content and concept for this CSO-training.
As you may know, IATI is a global initiative that makes information available on development and humanitarian activities. This information can be used by civil society to better understand development activities in their communities, what organizations are involved, how funding is being spent, and the impact achieved. Civil society also uses this information to hold donors and recipients accountable for delivering as promised. With this survey, we hope to understand how civil society in partner countries uses online development information, what learning needs they may have, what training resources to develop, and what positive role IATI can play.
Therefore we kindly ask one minute of your time to share your views through this community-survey. Many thanks in advance!

We will be hosting our second community event of the year, the IATI Virtual Community Exchange II, on 12-13 October from 12-3:30pm UTC. https://iaticonnect.org/VCE2

On 12 October at 2:15pm UTC (9:15am EDT), there will be a session entitled “IATI data use and analysis: lightning presentations” where IATI’s data users will have 5-7 minute time slots to share details on how they explored, analyzed, or used IATI data. The goal is to showcase how folks have explored the data and what they found, some interesting analysis, or a tangible use case – but it is not necessary that the exploration or analysis resulted in use of the data. We are interested in the process as much as we are interested in the use!

Hi all, there is a new Covid-19 DAC code related to health. We've started a discussion on how this should be used by publishers and data users here: https://iaticonnect.org/Discussion-COVID-19-Guidance

E.g. should it, or, should it not be used as a generic Covid marker. Presumably the latter.

The discussion will inform changes to both the Covid publishing and data access guidance. Please do have a read and let us know of any data use challenges and opportunities the use of this new code presents!
